I always tell people that I think of my brain as a big hotel with doors opening simultaneously. What I mean by that is that I can think of several things at once and actually know who or what is on each floor. That's been good, in that I can multitask quite well, but bad because I'm so interested in everything and get frustrated when I can't do it all at once.
I guess I'm always thinking in travel terms (i.e., my big hotel reference), but a trip to England when I was 19 changed my life: I fell in love with Europe and all things European. It's possible that my heritage has something to do with it, too. My bloodline is Swedish, Czech, English, Irish, German, Scottish, Welsh, Dutch (I think) and Native American, and I can see traces of each in every part of my personality.
As much as I enjoy traveling internationally, I have developed a new interest: exploring with the canine love of my life, Finn McKool. I'm enjoying sharing simple pleasures with him in our new Boston-area neighborhood, from walks along the Atlantic coastline to treks across Revolutionary War battlefields and scenic drives along New England byways.
